BRENHAM, TEXAS — The Brenham Heritage Museum welcomed a full-capacity audience on Saturday, October 3, for An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, featuring acclaimed Poe interpreter Campbell Harmon, M.A.
The event sold out completely, with all 100 tickets claimed in advance and a waitlist established. Guests traveled to Chappell Hill from across Texas to experience the evening of literature, history, and performance.
The program began with a reception and light dinner before Harmon brought Edgar Allan Poe’s life and work to the stage through a live performance. Following the program, attendees participated in a question-and-answer session and had the opportunity to meet and take photographs with the performer.
“We were thrilled by the enthusiastic response from our community and visitors from across the state,” said Ciera Harris, Executive Director of the Brenham Heritage Museum. “Having recently been recognized as Humanities Texas’ September Grantee Spotlight, this sold-out program is an especially meaningful reminder of the power of the humanities to bring people together through history, literature, and the arts.”
The event was presented with support from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Brenham Heritage Museum also extends its appreciation to the Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum for hosting the program in its historic schoolhouse and to Main Street House for supporting the guest artist’s lodging.
The Poe program concludes a successful series of Museum programs supported by Humanities Texas. The Brenham Heritage Museum invites the public to continue engaging with its fall offerings, including the Texas Arts & Music Festival Juried Art Show, on display through October 31 with a public reception at the Museum on October 16, and Cisterns & Secrets: A Masked Heritage Gala on November 7.
