Thank you for considering a gift to support our mission. Below are several straightforward ways to give, followed by a quick FAQ. Please consult your tax advisor or financial advisor to determine how these strategies apply to your situation.

1. Donor‑Advised Funds (DAF)

· Contribute cash or appreciated assets to a DAF, and recommend grants to our organization over time.

· DAF gifts can be made through major sponsors such as Edward Jones Charitable, Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, and many community foundations.

2. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)

· If you are age 70½ or older, you can donate directly from your IRA to our nonprofit via a QCD.

· QCDs can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may reduce taxable income.

3. Gifts of Appreciated Stock

· Donate publicly traded stocks, mutual funds, or ETFs held more than one year.

4. Name Our Organization as a Beneficiary

· Add our nonprofit as a beneficiary of retirement accounts (e.g., IRA, 401(k)), life insurance policies, donor‑advised funds, or brokerage accounts.

Donor FAQ

What information do you need to receive a stock gift?

We will provide our brokerage DTC number, firm name, account title and account number. Please contact our office for the one‑page instruction letter.

Can I recommend a grant to you from my Donor‑Advised Fund?

Yes. Search for our legal name (Brenham Heritage Museum, Inc.) and EIN (74-2592464) in your DAF portal and recommend a grant. Please include your name and contact information in the grant notes so we can acknowledge your gift.

Who is eligible to make a QCD?

Individuals age 70½ or older can direct up to the annual QCD limit from an eligible IRA directly to our organization. Your IRA custodian can send the check or transfer directly to us.

Will I receive a receipt for my taxes?

Yes. We provide a written acknowledgment for all donations. For non‑cash gifts, we confirm the date and a description of the property (not value).

Can I make my gift recurring?

Absolutely. We can set up monthly or quarterly gifts by bank draft or card, and your DAF sponsor may also support recurring grants.

What is BHM Restricted Endowment?

You may give funds for the BHM Board to use towards a specific use or maintenance goal with any funds remaining to fold into the general operations if needed.
